Workers’ Compensation Rates Continue to Decrease in Louisiana

Louisiana Workforce Commission (“LWC”) reported that workers’ compensation rates will decrease, beginning on May 1, 2019, in light of The National Council on Compensation Insurance’s recommendation to reduce premium rates by 5.6%. Rates have dropped 34% over the past 10 years and 50% over the past 20 years. According to the LWC, a prominent factor for the trend of rate decrease is work place safety, as Louisiana has one of the lowest non-fatal work-related injury rates in the United States.
