The Louisiana Workforce Commission reported that according to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, Louisiana’s overall labor force and the number of people employed in the labor force grew in March. There was a 0.2 percentage point increase in the unemployment rate, however, the Louisiana Workforce Commission attributes this to the increase of people looking for work in Louisiana, and not to layoffs. Louisiana added roughly 4,400 nonfarm jobs in March, and private employers added 5,100 jobs over the month. The largest increase in jobs were in education and health services, which added 2,000 jobs in March.
