Louisiana Ranked 19th in Economic Growth

New figures released by the Federal Bureau of Economic Analysis demonstrated that Louisiana’s economy grew by 1.9% in 2014.  Nationwide growth in 2014 was 2.2%.  Louisiana’s lag behind nationwide growth is attributable to the shrinking of the state’s mining sector, including oil and gas drilling.  Although there was growth in Louisiana’s manufacturing sector, which includes oil refiners and chemical makers, Louisiana’s economy still ranked 19th among states for growth.
