Doctor Pleads Guilty to Pill Mill Scheme

Frederick Floyd was arrested on July 7 on allegations that he teamed up with others to operate a pill mill in New Orleans East.  Floyd plead guilty to federal charges of illegally dispensing prescription drugs and money laundering.  Investigators reported that Floyd would prescribe medications such as Oxycodone in exchange for cash to patients who did not require the drug.  He dispensed nearly five million doses between January 1, 2015 and August 31, 2017 by seeing up to 70 patients per day.  If U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier accepts the plea deal, Floyd faces a mandatory 10 years in prison.
