Member Patrick Babin will join Dr. Laurie S. Hebert, Co-Director of Creel Hearing Center, to present an educational webinar, “Presumption of Causation and Hearing Loss in Defense Base Act,” hosted by Labor Management Services, International on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM PDT. They will provide their strategies for claims professionals, discussing the legal and medical aspects of managing hearing loss claims under the Defense Base Act. The presentation will include the legal aspect of calculating hearing loss under the Act, the Supreme Court cases, the wage calculation, as well as treatment and how to avoid/reduce exposure.
Patrick has defended a variety of cases throughout the country, including workers’ compensation, maritime liability, and hearing loss. He handles claims under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, Section 905(b), Defense Base Act, War Hazards Compensation Act, Jones Act, and Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Act.
Dr. Hebert, Au.D., CCC-A, earned her Doctorate of Audiology from University of Florida. She served as an Assistant Professor of Audiology in the LSU Health Science Center Doctor of Audiology program for 8 years. Dr. Hebert is CAOHC certified as a professional supervisor of the audiometric monitoring program.
