The 5K Run/Walk, which celebrated its 29th anniversary, was a benefit for the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. Attorneys Samantha Kaplan, Lejla Alibasic, Alexa Buechler, and Meagan Downes, from MBLB’s Chicago office were among the 3,500 runners who competed in the race.

With more than 60 years of experience, Chicago Volunteer Legal Services is the first and pre-eminent pro bono civil legal aid provider in Chicago. CVLS is comprised of 2,300+ volunteer attorneys who donate free services to thousands of low-income Chicagoans annually.

In October 2025, MBLB opened an office in Chicago with three attorneys—Samantha Kaplan, Lejla Alibasic and Alexa Buechler—to help the firm expand its influence and reach in this practice area.
