MBLB Raises $1,000 for the LBF Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program

MBLB Kids' Chance luncheonMouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett celebrated this year’s National Kids’ Chance Awareness Week, October 13 – 17, raising $1,000 for the Louisiana Bar Foundation Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program. The program is the state chapter of a national organization that awards scholarships to the children of Louisiana workers who have been killed or permanently and totally disabled in an accident compensable under a state or federal Workers’ Compensation Act or law.

The firm recognized all of our team members who contributed with a luncheon at the end of the fundraising week. As Managing Member Alan Brackett said, “MBLB is the only firm in New Orleans that participates in Kids’ Chance. With our help, the Louisiana Bar Foundation was able to grant seven scholarships to Louisiana kids whose parent was permanently disabled or killed due to a workplace injury.”

The LBF is celebrating 21 years of awarding Kids’ Chance Scholarships. Since 2004, the organization has awarded 356 scholarships totaling $974,750.

KIDS’ CHANCE

MBLB has partnered with Kids’ Chance Louisiana to raise awareness for this important program. Losing a parent is not only emotionally devastating, it can be financially devastating. When a parent is lost, many kids have to start working during high school to help support their families. Going to college is often not an option, and if it is, it’s a financial challenge.

National Kids’ Chance Awareness Week may be over, but any time is a good time to donate to Kids’ Chance.
