MBLB Participates in NOBA Annual Bar & Grille Competition

MBLB NOBA Bar and GrillAttorneys at Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett fired up the grill during the NOBA Annual Bar & Grille Cooking Competition. The event, which was held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Peristyle at City Park, was hosted by the Young Lawyers Section of the New Orleans Bar Association (NOBA). The Bar & Grille law firm cooking competition brings the legal community and private business together to fund the Veterans Justice Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship provides life-changing civil legal help to address the needs of low-income veterans in the New Orleans area.

Under bluebird skies, MBLB’s team of chefs competed against other law firms for several different “best of” categories. Leading our team were captains Ava Wolf and Tyler Loga. Mike Neuner and Tyler grilled a smashing smash burger with onion fig jam. For dessert, Tyffani Lauve and Natalie Morris served up Deconstructed Cheesecake Nachos. Meanwhile, Katie Fox and Abby Unsworth mixed up some Jungle Juice, while Arthur Chassaignac, Katie Briuglio and John Zazulak worked behind the scenes, pitching in wherever needed. Cheering from the stands were Alan Brackett, Gerard Dragna, Mike Parks, Simone Yoder, Trevor Cutaiar, Edward McAuliffe and Linda Castanza.

While MBLB didn’t take home a trophy this year, fun was had by all, and most importantly, we were happy to raise money for legal aid for veterans!

ABOUT THE VETERANS JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP

The New Orleans Bar Association and New Orleans Bar Foundation created the prestigious Veterans Justice Fellowship to serve the unaddressed civil legal needs that adversely impact the lives of the 25% of New Orleans area veterans who are low-income. A recent survey of veterans found that five of their top ten overall unmet needs needed the help of a lawyer in the areas of housing law, consumer issues, discharge upgrades, child support, and removal of legal barriers to employment. The Fellow serves veterans as a Southeast La. Legal Services lawyer, embedded in the new VA hospital, who partners with community service providers who serve veterans.

The NOBA Veterans Justice Fellowship fights for veterans as they once fought for us. Support veterans by making a donation to fund this Fellowship. In virtually every branch of the military there is the Soldier’s Creed of:  “Leave No Man Behind”.

Help fund this Veterans Fellowship so together, we “Leave No Veteran Behind” >
