JoAnn Hymel is an associate at Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett. Her areas of practice include the defense of employers and insurance carriers for claims arising under the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, Defense Base Act, and War Hazards Compensation Act. She was selected for Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Stars 2022 for Workers Compensation.
Hymel earned a bachelor of arts in mass communications from Louisiana State University and uses it often, whether working on an internal report or a pleading to the court, striving to make sure her client’s position is thoroughly researched and well-articulated and maintaining clear communication throughout the claim.
Hymel is a co-author of an attorney analysis column for Reuters Legal News, writing articles on workers’ compensation. While at Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU, she served as a junior associate and then senior notes and comments editor for the Journal of Energy Law & Resources. She received CALI awards for the highest grade in Legal Research & Writing I and II.
