We are proud to announce that Edward McAuliffe was recognized by the Louisiana State Bar Association with a 2023 Pro Bono Publico Award. This award honors attorneys who have gone above and beyond their professional duties to ensure access to legal services for low-income Louisianans. Edward accepted this award at a ceremony and reception that was hosted by the Louisiana Supreme Court on Wednesday, May 17.

Edward said, “It felt really good to help someone who was in need and had nowhere to go and no one experienced who could help. I am also proud to be following in the footsteps of my father, who received this very same award 20 years ago.”

Pro bono service is essential to ensuring that all people can access justice in Louisiana, where the number of people eligible for free legal services outnumbers legal aid attorneys themselves by a whopping 11,250 to one. This means that while legal aid providers serve thousands of people each year, they cannot serve everyone who cannot afford an attorney. These awards recognize members of the legal profession who are leading the charge in closing the gap between needed legal services and available legal help through their pro bono service.

Congratulations, Edward! We are proud of your service!
