CELEBRATING: Creole Heritage Month

The Louisiana Creole flag

Every October, Creole Heritage Month is celebrated across the Caribbean and the Americas — from St. Lucia and Dominica to Haiti and Louisiana. It’s a time to honor the unique blend of ethnicities, languages, and traditions that make up Creole identity.

Here in Louisiana, that story has deep and fascinating roots. Creole Louisiana is more than a mix of races — it’s a living culture woven into every part of the state. You can taste it in our food, hear it in our music, and see it in our traditions, especially those rooted in Catholicism (yes, that includes Mardi Gras!).

In celebration of Creole Heritage Month, in this Affinity newsletter we share the story of Creole Louisiana.
