Michael O’Brien, Special Counsel

Special Counsel Michael O’Brien has more than 18 years of trial and litigation experience in transportation and automobile defense, general casualty and insurance defense, premises liability, products liability, oil and gas litigation, and admiralty and maritime litigation. Michael has liaised with in-house counsel, claims adjusters, and client safety personnel to resolve claims and improve safety policies and procedures. He has also conducted accident investigations and coordinated with insured clients, investigators, law enforcement personnel, Federal regulators, and experts to determine the cause of catastrophic losses.

Michael is an experienced trial attorney who has successfully litigated hundreds of cases in Louisiana state and federal courts. His clients appreciate his ability to clearly communicate the issues and the tenacity he brings to the courtroom. “I am fascinated by the challenges that my clients face on a daily basis. It is an honor to speak on their behalf, and it is my privilege to present their stories in a courtroom to judges and juries.”

He was selected as an Honoree for New Orleans CityBusiness 2017 Leadership in Law class, which recognizes 50 area lawyers. He is a longtime member of The Mariners Club of the Port of New Orleans and currently serves as a board member.

Michael lives in Metairie with his wife, Dana, and his two children. He is a board member of the Greater New Orleans Football Officials Association and officiates high school football games throughout the State of Louisiana. He enjoys serving as a volunteer coach of his kids’ flag football, basketball, soccer, and baseball teams.
