In 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act as a tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dedication to the service of others. The Act encourages Americans to make their communities a better place through volunteerism.
In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy, a group of team members from Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett took “a day on, not a day off” by observing this National Day of Service by volunteering at Grace at the Green Light. Together we helped serve breakfast to 169 unhoused community members.
In 2023, our team began volunteering quarterly with Grace at the Green Light in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
Grace at the Green Light recently moved to 2239 Poydras Street at Ozanam Inn. Their mission remains the same: to provide care for the people who need it the most by providing essentials to not only help New Orleans’ unhoused population, but also to show them there are people out there who do care about them.
Grace at the Green Light is always in need of volunteers in general. Interested in volunteering?
