Ney J. Gehman, Of Counsel

Ney Gehman has more than two decades of litigation experience in the defense of various commercial entities, including trucking and commercial transportation companies and their insurance carriers. He is also experienced in the defense of business operators, including premises owners and retail outlets, as well general casualty and insurance defense. He has defended national commercial and personal line insurers and their insureds, and has litigated cases throughout Louisiana in both state and federal court.

When a file is assigned, Ney’s approach is to thoroughly evaluate all components of a case and provide his clients with a realistic assessment. Ongoing and substantive communication with his clients, from suit assignment through case conclusion, is pivotal to successfully defend their best interests.

“I believe once a client is aware from the outset of the strengths and weaknesses of a given lawsuit, a results-based goal to efficiently and effectively conclude a case becomes a reality. I enjoy thoroughly evaluating all details of a case once assigned, including pre-suit developments. Subsequently, I will aggressively prepare cases to be defended at trial, or otherwise begin the negotiation process to achieve the best possible resolution. If there are unexpected developments in a case, prompt communication with my clients, including a thorough legal evaluation, is most important for us to achieve the best result possible.”

Following graduation from New England School of Law – Boston, Ney served as an Assistant District Attorney in New Orleans for several years and gained substantive motion and trial experience as a state prosecutor. Subsequently, he has been employed in private practice. For nearly a decade, Ney worked within the Trials Division as in-house counsel for a national insurance carrier and defended and litigated a wide variety of commercial claims throughout Louisiana.

Ney is a native of New Orleans. Prior to law school, he graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans and was a member of its inter-collegiate baseball team. He lives with his wife Lauren, and their two children, Clayton and Olivia. Ney enjoys attending the various sports events his children are involved in.
