Jay M. Lonero, Member
Member Jay M. Lonero has more than 35 years of experience as a litigator. His practice focuses on insurance coverage, coverage litigation, and insurance first- and third-party bad faith litigation. In those areas, he handles claims regarding marine and energy, environmental/toxic tort, construction defect, first party property, and class action/multidistrict litigation. Jay litigates claims nationwide for domestic insurers and the London Market. He also is called upon by clients to prepare appellate briefs in matters handled by other counsel at the trial court level.
Jay has developed a reputation as a highly-skilled insurance coverage lawyer. He has received peer honors, including Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Rating for over 30 years and has been included in New Orleans Magazine Top Lawyers. He has been nominated and inducted into the peer reviewed Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, a selective organization with less than 1,500 members nationally.
Clients have asked Jay to write and advise on insurance policies for existing or new lines of coverage, recommend and draft new policy forms and endorsements, and prepare manuscript policies for specialized risks or unique businesses.
Jay is known by his clients for two things. First, immediately learning his client’s objective in a case and, second, developing a plan with his client to achieve that objective. He is most proud of the many referrals which he receives from existing clients.
